Over the past 10 years Dr. Stephen Scionti has developed the largest and most experienced practice for prostate cancer treatment using minimally invasive thermal ablation technologies such as HIFU, Cryoablation and Prostate Laser Ablation. He has achieved global recognition for his experience, skill and groundbreaking clinical contributions in the field of image-guided prostate cancer ablation. He is also an internationally recognized authority in the field of prostate cancer diagnostics. Dr. Scionti is Founder and Director of the Scionti Prostate Center of Boston at the prestigious Mass Bay Urology, 100 Highland Street, Milton, MA 02186.
Dr. Scionti’s academic experience includes Clinical Associate Professor of Urology, New York University School of Medicine, and Director of Prostate Cancer Ablative Surgery at the Joel E. Smilow Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Center at NYU.
Formerly, Dr. Scionti was the Medical Director and Founder of the Hilton Head, SC International Center for Men’s Health.
In addition to his clinical practice Dr. Scionti is actively researches and lectures on outcomes for ablation technology, technique and outcomes.
Professional Experience
HIFU: Dr. Scionti has made outstanding contributions to HIFU treatment and is a recognized leader in this technology successfully treated over 600 patients. Having worked to perfect the technology and having researched medical applications for it, he is one of North America’s most experienced HIFU surgeons, and the nation’s most experienced University-affiliated HIFU physicians. His leadership includes training U.S. urologists in this therapy option, and he serves as Training Course Director for USHIFU at the International HIFU Centers. He is not only an authority in delivering the treatment, but also in identifying patients who qualify for HIFU and managing their recovery after the procedure. Because of his contributions to the research, HIFU technology is currently being used successfully by urologists around the world. Dr. Scionti offers HIFU to prostate cancer patients through the International HIFU Centers in Bermuda, Nassau, Bahamas and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Cryoabaltion: Dr. Scionti is one of the most active cryosurgeons performing over 1,000 prostate procedures. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Scionti, helps teach and proctor urologists on prostate Cryotherapy techniques. He actively researches and lectures on Cryotherapy technology and clinical outcomes. Formerly, Dr. Scionti was the Medical Director and Founder of the Hilton Head, SC International Center for Men’s Health. He is a leading contributor to the COLD Registry, a national database of cryotherapy outcomes. He also organized the National Cryotherapy Training Workshop and helped train more than 200 urologists annually on the use of the Cryotherapy to treat prostate cancer.

Dr. Stephen Scionti, Founder and Director of the Scionti Prostate Center of Boston, has co-authored a new article on the role of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) in identifying and treating early stage prostate cancer patients while greatly reducing or even eliminating the risk of damaging side effects from radical surgery.
